Hi -

It's hard to believe that school has started and we're beginning our Fall and Winter seasons.  Isn't it funny how we sort of plan our calendar around the school year?!  I left the class references in this note as a reminder of what's to come!  Join us, we have a great time in our classes!

Just a quick reminder before I begin...we will be closed on Monday, for the Labor Day Holiday.

We have a wonderful "new" container to hold all of the goodies we collect and "have to have" for everything we do.  It is compact and easy to carry and has room for everything.  Cathy has been using hers for years and loves it - now they make them with "Knit Happy" and "Stitch Happy" on the front. They come in several colors  - It would make a wonderful gift for your favorite stitcher or knitter (hopefully that favorite would be you!)

Our stitchers will love the "new" Kreinik.  It's holographic and we've been using it for our Halloween pieces.  Arvida loves it - it's really "sparkley!"

At Barbara Starman’s request we have
added the complete line of Sparkle! Braid.  She will be teaching a Shadow Stitching class on September 11 and this is one of her favorite threads for this technique. It's about the size of Blending Filament and WAAAAY easier to use!!

Now - for our knitters --- we have a beautiful new cashmere yarn from JoJoland. It uses a size 6 US needle and has 200 yards on the skein - $30.00. Can you believe it? - A beautiful, hand knit cashmere scarf for $30.00 - can you say - "Perfect for a holiday gift!"

Our fall yarn is arriving almost daily - one of my favorites is a new one from Done Roving Farms on the east coast.  They "grow" the sheep, shear the sheep, spin the yarn and if that's not enough they hand dye it!  It's beautiful - come in and take a look -- We have it in a mohair and wool blend as well as a Merino and Silk blend.

                  New Knitting
                Classes

We have lots of classes coming up.  April is teaching several great knitting classes -socks on 2 circular needles, "really neat" washcloths, a felted knit bag, and beginner lace wrap as well as her regular weekly classes on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Knitters! - be watching for our new class list.  We have some wonderful classes coming up - One in particular is very intriguing - we will be meeting monthly for a new project every month - The projects are pre-planned and come in kit form, the yarn is from Kollage and most of it is "green" in the ecological sense of the word.  Yarn made out of milk, soy, corn, cotton - well, you get the drift!  It will be fun, small projects.  We will send a separate email with our class list - don't delete me....

Lindsey will be teaching a wonderful series of classes - a different project with a different yarn monthly.  The first class will be a really cute hat.  This will be an 8 month commitment, a new class once a month.  We have room for only 10 students, so be sure and call right away to get your name on the list.

            Needlepoint Classes

Below be sure and catch up on the great needlepoint classes coming up. Don't forget, Wednesdays are embellishment class days.  I've decided to do every Wednesday to avoid mix-ups -- $15.00 per 2 1/2 hour session.  Several of my stitchers come every Wednesday and you'd be amazed at the number of projects that have been finished!  Well done, girls!

Our needlepointers also have some wonderful classes coming up, with new ideas occurring every day.  We're doing a new witch every month or so and we have monthly ornament classes, both Halloween and Christmas.

We have a great series of "Needlepoint Quilt" classes coming up.  Come on in and see our Turkey (September 25th) and Blackbirds (January 2011) and there are more to come.  I see this as an ongoing project - Peggi of Tapestry Fair is busy designing these wonderful canvases and I can already tell ... one won't be enough for any of us.  We will be working with color and design (working off a basic stitch guide).  I'm really looking forward to these classes.

We will also be doing our "Pat Thode" yearly Santa.  The 2010 Santa is just great - be sure and come in to see him. The class is October 9th & 10th.

If you don't know how to needlepoint or just want to brush up on your skills, treat yourself to a class with Barbara Pluta.  She is such a great teacher and I can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday.  Her next class is Sunday, September 19th.

Paula will be doing her wonderful heart series again beginning on Sunday September 26th.  Again, a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Additionally, Paula will begin teaching Saturday Embellishment Classes.  The 2 fall dates are October 2nd and November 20th.  Paula is our 'go-to' person on Saturdays for threads and stitches, so this is a great opportunity to explore the world of embellishment!

To get you into the holiday spirit...we have a great Santa Pillow class coming in September too!  He is too cute.
Julia Key H Snyder will be here to teach embellishment on October 23rd and 24th - AND-

Tony Mineri will be teaching embellishment classes (2 days each)
on February 24
th & 25th or 26th & 27th.

Arvida will be teaching Tranquil Dreams beginning on November 13th.  Come in on Wednesdays or Thursdays and Arvida will help you pick out colors.

So friends --- No boredom allowed!!

See you soon!

Julie
